What's the recording experience like?

It's everyday people - anyone and everyone can record with StoryCorps.
It's facilitated - a StoryCorps Facilitator will be there to guide you through the whole experience.
You run the conversation: You chose what you do and don't discuss.

What will we talk about?

Explore suggested topics like:
What was your school like when you were growing up?
Describe the first day you remember desegregation efforts starting at your school. How was it different? What felt familiar?
How does your desegregation experience shape who you are today?

We'll have a full list of suggested questions on-site.
You're invited to bring newspaper clippings and mementos with you on recording day.

Do I need to script my conversation?

Definitely not! These conversations are meant to be spontaneous, authentic, and raw. No need to plan exactly what to say in advance.

Your conversation may be selected to share out to the community! If it's chosen, we will edit key excerpts into a 2-3 minute story. Click to listen to an example of an edited story from Leona and Tremaine.
